About the maker

Rolf Christian Kierboe Tiemroth was born in Denmark August 13th 1917. He studied to become a ceramicist, sculptor and painter in Denmark and already at 17 started his own workshop. It was told by one of his friends, that he was injured (likely in the early 50’s) on a clay mill and lost most of his fingers on one hand, leaving him unable to work the turntable. He moved to Norway, and until 63’ he worked at Norli (bookshop) in the arts department. After retraining he started work as a ceramicist again in Homborsund, south-east Norway, and became leader of the Grimstad Art Association. Tiemroth died on the 9th of January 2009 91 years old.
